About Mauri Pioppo The Designer
Long before Mauri Pioppo became a designer of jewelry her life and career choices were shaped by creativity and spirituality. Mauri had a prominent career as a professional modern dancer, touring with the legendary Twyla Tharp and other highly-acclaimed choreographers. She used the art of dance to communicate which soon segued to the study of yoga. Following a vision born of that practice, Mauri began experimenting with precious metals and stones and soon discovered the jewelry designer within, providing her with a new way to connect with the world around her.
From a seemingly infinite pool of inspiration and creativity Mauri creates collections that reflect the beauty of each individual - calling upon mythology, spirituality and metaphor to bring stories to life. The designs are rendered in precious metals and stones; but clearly, the design element that shines through is the personal meaning that inspires each. She is especially interested in evoking language via metals, and weaves that into her creations through the intentional use of unique design components.
Underscoring all of Mauri's artistic expressions and design ventures is the belief that by adorning ourselves with powerful archetypal symbols we connect to our true potential and ability to help create a world filled with beauty, peace, and abundance. To that end, one of the founding visions of the Mauri Pioppo Fine Jewelry (MPFJ) brand is the cultivation of awareness and support for philanthropic foundations. The Karma collection brings this message across, in the guise of beautiful, wearable jewelry, raising money and visibility for foundations such as Hope for Henry Foundation, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Project Angel Food, Natural Resource Defense Council, and ASPCA and The Creative Coalition.
Within the jewelry world Mauri is seen as a trendsetter in gold jewelry design due to her organic and conscious approach to the traditional art form. Her work is highlighted on TV shows, in film and on stage, and she has enjoyed partnering with top celebrities in her commitment to charitable works. Collaborations with celebrities such as Sheryl Crow, Debra Messing, Lena Olin, and Eric McCormack have resulted in creating unique pieces that dedicate funds and raise awareness for various charities and foundations.
Mauri lives the life she espouses. Most important to her are her family, her animals, spirituality and a sense of balance. She sees life as "an opportunity to be expansive" and the universe as "a place to beautify ourselves and others".
